Holistic Literacy Sessions
Our English programme enables students to develop in all aspects of the language. The fundamentals of English are taught during literacy sessions, while a range of elements are integrated into all curriculum areas.

Writing
Writing programmes guide students to explore and create texts for a variety of purposes, while considering the impact their carefully crafted writing will have on their audience. Students are encouraged to critically analyse language choices and to evaluate the effectiveness of their own and others’ work.
Reading Programmes
Reading programmes provide opportunities for students to develop an appreciation and enjoyment of the language, while becoming proficient at understanding and responding to a variety of increasingly complex physical and digital texts. They are taught the literacy skills required to be able to select appropriate strategies, knowledge and skills to apply in various contexts across curriculum areas.

Learning of English through a range of contexts, experiences and media ensures the strengthening of oral, visual and digital literacy skills, thereby enabling students to communicate effectively.
Support programmes are tailored to assist learners with differing literacy needs.
Opportunities for English extension are provided through:
- Literature Badges
- Speech and Poetry Competitions
